Hi All,

I've just read some FANTASTIC news on the Edgar Allan Poe Musical website! Most of it doesn't have anything to do with Steve as this is the German cast production of the show, but it does appear that they are going to release a DVD of the Abbey Road showcase performance on the 28th August!

There is quite a lot of information, so here's a quick summary and a few links that will help:

28th August 2009:
- World Premiere of the show in Germany (German cast) at the Halle Opera House (by invitation only)
- Piano/vocal sheet music folio for the show released (we do not know if this will be in German or English - more info as we have it)
- Release of DVD of the Abbey Road Studios showcase performance of POE / order through the website shop
Please note - there isn't a specific link to pre-order the sheet music or the Abbey Road DVD at the time of this writing - we will keep you posted, but the main shop can be found at
http://www.edgar-all...N/POE_shop.html and may also be available at http://www.ericwoolf...allenpoemusical

2nd September 2009:
- Public World Premiere of the show in Germany at Halle Opera House

Info about various dates the show is running between 2009 and 2010:
http://www.edgar-all...OE_tickets.html

Read all about it on the Edgar Allan Poe Musical website:
http://www.edgar-allan-poe-musical.com

I'll update more when I spot it, but if you see it first, please let us know!

Kind regards,
NeeCee

Hi redmeg,

Well, admittedly, we don't have specific details from the "Edgar Allan Poe Musical" website at this juncture that lists out who the cast is on the forthcoming DVD to make it clear beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is the one that Steve was involved in back in 2003 at Abbey Road. However they did film the production at Abbey Road he was in at the time, and they did say that it was intended as a DVD release.

There is also mention of it on Eric Woolfson's forum several weeks ago - I've only just spotted the info about the actual release date though myself:
http://www.network54.../Poe+cast+album

Also...this past December, I spotted a promo copy that someone was auctioning on ebay, along with a programme from the show. I bid on it, but because it was right before Christmas, I'm afraid my budget would only stretch so far - and it wasn't far enough and I didn't win it. sad.gif I think it ended up selling for well over $300 USD if memory serves. (I wonder if the commercially released DVD will be sold as a limited collector's edition and priced accordingly? Sorry - just me questioning out loud there and that particular point isn't anything I know to be a fact at this point in time.) I'm sure all will be revealed on the official Edgar Allan Poe Musical website in due course.

I did actually save a copy of the image from the ebay auction - here it is - although I will say that I didn't take this photo and if the person that did take it would like me to remove it, please let me know and I'll take it off this message. I will also say that I do not know if this will be the packaging used for the commercially available DVD or not:

So you see, between the posts on Eric's forum and what I've seen not that long ago on ebay, it leads me to believe that there is a good chance that the DVD is from the Poe Abbey Road performance with Steve. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!! fingers crossed.gif I hope we can get full details and pre-order soon. smile.gif

Oh - and also according to Eric's forum, it does mention that they are planning to release the physical CD of the full set of tracks from Poe (with Steve in the lead role) that was made available digitally to download a few months back. And they will be offering a special price for those fans that have purchased the entire album digitally already too like they did for "The Alan Parsons Project That Never Was" album - so that's another little something we can look forward to! smile.gif

Hope that helps!

Kind regards,
NeeCee

Hi All,

WOW - talk about FAST...I placed my order last week, and I've got my copy of the CD in less than a week! YAY! banMacarana.gif

There are quite a few pics of Steve as POE on the inside of the pack and also in the booklet. (Some of them are small, but then, on a CD it's a bit difficult for them to be anything but small...suppose now I can start hoping for the vinyl version with larger pictures to be released someday! *chuckle* Greedy moo that I am!!!)

Just thinking...only one month and 90 minutes until the DVD is released...(*giggle* guess I'm not only greedy but impatient too!) smilie_affe20.gif

Can't wait!!! banjump1.gif

Hi All,

August is going to be a fab month...The Storys "Town Beyond The Trees" Bonus Edition is out on Monday, and three weeks from today on the 28th August the Poe DVD will be released! YAY!!! Banane0.gif

AND...I've just spotted that someone in Germany is auctioning a very, VERY rare copy of the 3 track CD single of "Immortal", which has a slightly different radio edit version on it. Here's the link:
http://cgi.ebay.co.u...id=p3286.c0.m14

You seldom see these, so if you are a completist collector of either Eric's or Steve's works, you won't want to miss out on this one! wink.gif

And my usual blurb..I am not the seller of this item, nor am I affiliated with this seller or am recommending them, I have merely spotted the listing on ebay and thought I'd let you all know as I'm sure there are some of you that would love to lay your hands on it! smile.gif Good luck everyone! smile.gif

Kind regards,
NeeCee

Hi All,

I've just spotted that the DVD is available for pre-order now on German Amazon site:
http://www.amazon.de...c...6802&sr=8-1

I wouldn't hesitate if I was you...you know how quickly these things can sell out (especially when we all multi-buy for friends, relatives, etc.) smile.gif After all, Christmas will be here before you know it! tongue.gif (Well, that's my excuse anyhow!) laugh.gif

Hi All,

A few more links have popped up - and it looks like the artwork for the DVD is like the promo I saw on ebay too.

Anyhow....

In the UK (it appears that the release date here is a week later than in Germany) - you can pre-order the DVD now on:

Amazon.co.uk:
http://www.amazon.co...51235544&sr=8-3

HMV.com:
http://hmv.com/hmvwe...1;-1&sku=229880

In Germany, release date is 28th August:

Amazon.de:
http://www.amazon.de...51241589&sr=8-6

It still doesn't appear to be showing on the Edgar Allan Poe Musical website - perhaps it won't be long until we see it and the sheet music there too.

More soon!

Kind regards,
NeeCee

Hi All,

Apparently Amazon.de don't have stock of the Poe DVD that was supposed to be released there on 28th August...nor do they know when they will get it. :(

The UK Amazon still has it listed for release on 6th September - I don't know if that date will be delayed now too or not.

There is a seller on ebay that has it listed for sale - but please be aware that this is also a pre-order for 6th September. I realise I should be more patient, but like the song says "I want it now, I want it now...")

Also, the Premiere of the show at the Halle Opera House in Germany took place this week. Apparently Friday's performance was streamed live over the internet. (Sorry this info is too late for you to act upon it - I only found out myself :( I'm still not feeling very well, so I'm not able to be online that much at the moment.)

Anyhow, it seems that those that are interested in seeing that one from the German show will be able to catch it on 3rd September via the website: http://www.live-musical.com

There is also a promo trailer on YouTube you might want to see:

And here are a few links to online articles with some photos from the German production:

Hi All,

Just a quick update re ordering the DVD's - you can order them online via the shop on Eric Woolfson's website (although they are in the section for the Alan Parson's Project That Never Was at the moment):

http://www.ericwoolf...hatneverwas/poe

They are also offering a Poe bundle, which is the DVD and a copy of the new CD too.

Kind regards,
NeeCee

Hi All,

All I can say is WOW! How excellent is it to see this showcase on DVD! :banjump1:

I will also say that the packaging is slightly different to the one I showed you in the photo of the promo copy that sold on ebay....from the photo, the promo one on ebay looks like it was in a plastic DVD case, and the commercially released version is in a digipack, with lots of lovely photos of Steve inside, as well as a booklet with the scene/song listing (loads of lovely colour photos on that!) and the disc itself has a cracking colour photo of Steve on it too! Totally exxx!!! :Banane0:

Honestly, this one is going to be one of those releases that you need to make sure you have an open copy to play (and you will play it, frequently! :P ) as well as a two or three extras in reserve for when you wear out your open copy (and you will! :P )

And before any of you think about asking, I'm not going to tell you how many times I've watched it already! :anono1: (Think my square-eyes are a bit of a dead giveaway though!) :P

If you enjoyed this DVD, it might be nice to pop over to Eric Woolfson's forum to say thank you - you don't have to be a registered member to post there either - here's the link http://www.network54.com/Forum/254907/

Kind regards,
NeeCee

Hi All,

The Edgar Allan Poe musical songbook is out now too. It is in English with a pull-out word book in German - you can order it via Eric's website shop in the "Musicals" section at:
http://www.ericwoolf...llanpoesongbook

I am not sure why it is in the musicals section but not in the sheet music section. I only mention it now just in case they move it to "sheet music" at some point.

I have also spotted it on the Music Exchange website:
http://www.music-exc.../0/details.html

And the Music Room website:
http://www.musicroom...79/details.html

Also - just to mention that the NTSC of the DVD of the Abbey Road Showcase should be available at the end of September (so very soon!)

Kind regards,
NeeCee

I am so glad because I finally got my hands on the official DVD and I have to admit...it is absolutely superb!! Posted Image

After 1 unfortunate try buying the POE musical (my first copy was corrupted and not applicable to any devise...bad luck I guess), I got a second copy and I watched it in one breath....

Even though the show (as far as I remember) wasn't performed for more than 2 or 3 days (correct me if I am wrong here...), the quality of all the cast & the production was amazing & so well tunned that it seemed like they had been doing this for more than a few shows..The people who were fortunate to live this experience, must be remembering this show for a long time... *sigh*

I cannot find words to describe this...I was so happily surprised because...ok...I know what amazing things Steve can do with his voice...what I didn't know is that this sweet guy can REALLY play the actor too, amazingly & convincingly well...
Of course you will tell me that if I had watched JCSS, I would have known by now...but anyway...better late than ever..ha ha

Even after the unfortunate news of Mr.Woolfson's death, I think I will feel forever grateful to him for having given us the chance to experience his musical genius and the talent of all these people involved in the making of POE the Musical.

This DVD is really worth your time, money, attention....everything!!Posted Image

Steve, you proved us how amazingly talented you are..once more...not that we had any doubts of course....

xxxx to all & I hope you enjoy it too, as I definitely did....yeap!!

Hi Capricorn,

Well said- I couldn't agree with you more!

Yes, the Abbey Road Showcase with Steve and the cast in the DVD was for 3 shows only (2 were called "preview" shows, and the final night of the 3 was the "premiere". And last year, the fully staged German version of the show was premiered.

I too am grateful to Eric for bringing us this one - and when I think how ill he was, and how poorly he must have been feeling last year, for him to have made the effort to bring us the full album, the DVD, the sheet music, and the German production - it makes me even more appreciative. I've always enjoyed the Alan Parsons Project, but this particular album and DVD is for me, one of my all time favourite works. Eric will be missed - and remembered.

Who knows - at some point we may get to see Steve do a bit more acting, with a nice juicy role. :) I suppose time will tell!

Thanks again for your message - lovely to speak with you again!

Kind regards,

NeeCee
